The Bloomsly - How phone cases started
~I started my adventure with illustrations by designing patterns for fabrics. I simply felt that I wanted to draw one day. First it was watercolours, pencil sketches and then I discovered digital drawing and fell in love. With three small children and time only in the evenings, digital drawing was a great help. I had many ideas for designing fabrics, selling my own patterns on products, phone cases, fabrics etc. I didn't know how to start so I followed tips on the internet and licensed my patterns to other companies. This is where my personal dilemmas began.
Don't get me wrong, it was a good start but unfortunately it's not a way to make money and take care of my family, pay bills etc. For example, one company sells my patterns on their fabrics. As payment, I receive 5% of the retail price of the fabric. My fabrics have already sold in quite a large quantity and the company has earned €5,000 while I earned €250. You can see for yourself that it is a way but it won't work for everyone. That's why I decided to develop my brand. And no, I don't earn a fortune, sometimes my expenses are greater than my income, but I want to continue developing what I started out of my passion for design and a sense of freedom.
